If a new chat has been created for you but does not appear immediately, try closing and reopening the app.
Chats
GGMA Squawk includes a built-in messaging system that lets you communicate with other users and the GGMA team.
Direct Chats
Direct chats are private, one-on-one conversations. These may be set up by the GGMA team (e.g. when you first join) or initiated by users.
To access your chats:
- Web app: Click Chats in the top navigation bar.
- iPhone app: Tap the Chats tab at the bottom of the screen.
Discussion Forum
The Discussion Forum is a group chat where multiple users can share insights, discuss market developments, and exchange ideas in real time. It works like a group chat room where all participants can see and respond to messages.
The Discussion Forum may contain:
- Market commentary from the GGMA team
- Shared charts and financial data (e.g. U.S. 10 Year TIPS, Livesquawk charts)
- Community discussion among subscribers
To join the Discussion Forum, contact the GGMA team — you may need to be invited.
Live Sessions
GGMA offers Live Sessions — real-time interactive sessions where you can connect directly with the GGMA team. To request a Live Session:
- Open your direct chat with the GGMA team.
- Send a message asking to schedule a Live Session.
- The GGMA team will start the session at an agreed time.
Sending Messages
- Open a chat (direct or Discussion Forum).
- Type your message in the Message… field at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap/click the send button (arrow icon) to send your message.
Attachments
You can attach files and images to your chat messages:
- In the chat, tap/click the attachment icon (paperclip) next to the message field.
- Select the file or image you want to share.
- Send your message.
Editing Messages
You can edit messages you have already sent:
- Find the message you want to edit.
- Tap/click the three-dot menu (…) on your message.
- Select Edit and modify your text.
- Save your changes.
Offline Mode & Message Storage
The GGMA Squawk app stores the last 100 messages locally on your device. This means:
- You can read recent messages even when you are offline.
- When you go back online, the app will automatically reconnect to the chat server.
- Offline status indicators show when you or other users are not connected.
